Working Safely Online as a Birthworker
This is an online course for Birthworkers in how to work safely when working with clients ‘online’. This training is for Birthworkers only.
The course is delivered over 2 Modules:
Module 1 is delivered online via a link sent to you within *24 hrs of booking. This Module is approx 1 hour long. You will be provided with a sample contract to use for your online work as a Birthworker, aswell as access to the Facebook Group: Working Safely as a Birthworker Online. You will also receive examples of how to spot potentially ‘fake’ social media profiles too.
please note: the *24 hrs applies as a security measure as all attendees need to be screened due to ‘hoax’ infiltration (unfortunately there has been a hoaxer who has managed to penetrate some online Birthworker communities. If you need to watch the training urgently due to time constraints, please let me know and I will do what I can to prioritise you
Module 2 is a live interactive session with other Birthworkers via Zoom, so that the learning from Module 1 can be discussed and examples of implementing safety measures discussed. It may be that you decide not to offer support Online/via Video chat etc, but instead, have taken measures to guard your safety on social media and on your website. Dates for this module will be set once a month so that you can plan your attendance in advance. A certificate is given after Module 2 has been completed.

- How to stay safe as a ‘lone worker’ in the online world
- Who are you are talking to? Key Steps to protect your safety & collect/offer ID
- Enquiries, how to deal with these from various sources
- ‘Digital Birthworker’ contracts
- My story of a hoax client / Other Birthworkers stories
- Social Media ‘Red flags’, fake profiles, reporting these to FB/Insta etc
- Your safety when accepting friend or follow requests
- Potential characteristics of a Hoax enquiry
Module 2:
Interractive ‘Live’ Online session via Zoom with other Birthworkers, to discuss your learning and share your thoughts and the steps you have implemented as a result of this training
